York Regional Police Internal Support Networks embrace inclusivity and respect

Affinity groups for members to connect based on shared identities and experiences foster inclusion, support member development and help shape organizational policies

York Regional Police Internal Support Networks (ISN) are voluntary self-support groups for our members to connect based on shared characteristics, interests or life experiences. These groups help members feel safe and supported and facilitate the exchange of ideas and sharing experiences. ISNs implement internal initiatives that foster a culture of equity, diversity and social inclusion across our organization.

The ISNs are integral to YRP’s Inclusive Policing Action Plan. They are driven by the need to break down barriers and create an environment where diversity is celebrated, and members from all walks of life can thrive.

By prioritizing inclusion in every aspect of their operation, ISNs help YRP leadership shape policies, ensuring that all member’s voices are included in key decision-making processes. They serve as conduits for members to engage with leadership, advocate for their needs and influence change in the workplace when it is needed.

These networks are deeply committed to giving back to both local and global charities and providing direct aid to those in need.

ISNs support training, mentorship, career development, networking initiatives, recruitment and orientation. They are essential structures for connecting our members to critical resources to support their professional and personal growth.
