2023 was a busy and productive year for the York Regional Police Service Board

On behalf of the York Regional Police Service Board, I’m pleased to present the 2023 Annual Report. 2023 was a busy and productive year for members of the Board.

Our Anti-Black Racism and Building Community Trust Committee’s subject-matter expert Akwasi Owusu-Bempah finalized and presented: A Path Forward: Report of the York Regional Police Services Board Anti-Black Racism and Building Committee Trust Committee in 2023.

This report responded to the eight recommendations from community stakeholders and the Board made 15 recommendations of our own, outlined in a final report, to be implemented to combat anti-Black racism both in our service and in our community,

The Board approved the service’s $410.1 million operating budget for 2024 and the capital budget of $30.5 million. Read more about the 2024 Operating and Capital Budgets on our website.

The Board also selected Superintendent Kevin McCloskey as the new Deputy Chief. Deputy Chief McCloskey brings to the Executive Leadership Team extensive investigative and administrative experience as a values-based leader.

We appointed a new executive director, Anitra Basant Sisavang, who assists the Board in achieving its mandate of setting the overall objectives and priorities of the police service.The Police Services Board also welcomed new members Regional Councillor and Vaughan Deputy Mayor Linda Jackson and provincial appointee Madeleine Bodenstein.
